South Dakota Corn Grower Association members are pleased they now have five year certainty with the passage this week of the 2018 farm bill. Corn Growers Executive Director Lisa Richardson says it’s positive conferees followed Senator John Thune’s suggestion that there be flexibility in opting into either the ARC or PLC programs rather than being tied to one of those for five years.

She says having crop insurance maintained was a huge victory with this farm bill.

Richardson says getting an increase in conservation reserve program acres was also positive.

Richardson says as farmers make their preparations for 2019 they know they have a five year commitment from the federal government with this farm bill.
