South Dakota’s corn farmers are making great progress with their harvest this year. That’s according to Lisa Richardson, Executive Director for South Dakota Corn. She says one of the biggest concerns now however is dryness and the need for rain, hopefully soon.
She says what’s really positive is how trade is going as China has been purchasing more corn, some of that due to the recovery of their hog herd and their need for feed.
Richardson says that price hike has happened in just the last month. She also says the U.S. is making headway with trade with other countries and has seen success with several bilateral deals.
She says South Dakota benefits with trade with Asia as most if not all commodities from South Dakota go out through the Pacific Northwest ports.
