South Dakota Representative Kristi Noem expects Congress to start work soon on writing the new farm legislation. She says she spoke this week to House Agriculture Committee Chairman Mike Conaway about it.
She thinks they’ll have a good argument against cutting farm programs and boosting funding where it’s needed for agriculture.
Noem says risk management, disaster programs, a good safety net and conservation are all farm bill funding priorities.
The Senate Agriculture Committee will be holding a farm bill hearing next week in Manhattan, Kansas.
