The U.S. Department of Agriculture has released some preliminary findings from its investigation into the cattle markets following the Kansas Holcomb plant fire last year. South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson was disappointed in their findings in that they didn’t determine whether there was misconduct or not with the markets. He says the investigation was actually inconclusive.

He says some of the results from USDA’s report call for some minor fixes that he’s tried to introduce in some of his legislation.

Johnson says USDA’s report also calls for better risk management for cattle producers. He also says improvement in cattle market transparency was addressed by the USDA which he has also been calling for.

Johnson noted that there are two other cattle market investigations still ongoing, one from the USDA and another from the U.S. Justice Department.
