A report earlier this week that tainted meat from Mexico got into the U.S. may not be the whole story. South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association President Eric Jennings says U.S. inspectors are very thorough with their testing to make sure safety is ensured for all U.S. consumers.

The report also indicated that 54 people after consuming the Mexican meat got sick. Jennings says those individuals were likely not U.S. citizens.

Jennings says U.S. consumers shouldn’t be alarmed by this report as U.S. meat is safe and our FSIS inspection service is working as it should protecting everyone.
