South Dakota Senator John Thune wants Congress to pass a comprehensive tax reform measure. State Cattlemen’s Association President Larry Stomprud says his group likes the idea. He says they agree with Senator Thune that it’s important to simplify the tax code in the reform legislation.

He says cattle producers share the same tax concerns small businesses have. Stomprud says they agree with Senator Thune that passing tax reform would help agriculture and small businesses and lead to increased wages, and business expansion as well as the ability to hire more workers.

Stomprud says any tax reform package must include elimination of the estate tax.

Stomprud says he would like to see Congress approve a tax reform bill whether it be this year or sometime down the road.
