The South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association held a virtual Board meeting this week and voted to support the Governor’s merger proposal for the Agriculture Department with the State Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Cattlemen’s President Eric Jennings says they took a long look at the proposal before casting their vote.

He says the part of their Association most effected by the proposal is their cattle feeder council.

Jennings says having a streamlined department in place will likely benefit all South Dakotans in the long run.

Earlier SDCA had decided to remain neutral on the merger proposal but this week’s voted changed that to one of support.
