The South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association is monitoring several pieces of legislation being considered in Pierre. Cattlemen’s Executive Director Jodie Anderson says they’re supporting SB 52 which has already passed the State Senate that calls for renewal of confined animal feeding operations to go from five years to ten years. She says SB 52 eliminates a lot of needless red tape.
She says SB 52 also retains local control of the permitting process.
Anderson says they’re also backing legislation that will help SDSU add precision ranching equipment.
Anderson says they’re also backing fundraising efforts to replace the livestock complex at the South Dakota State Fairground.
