South Dakota Cattlemen Association members at their convention last week set policy and elected a new President. De Smet area rancher and attorney Todd Wilkinson takes over the leadership post from Cory Eich of Canova. Wilkinson says environmental concerns top their policy priorities.
Wilkinson says another national policy calls for opposing the second beef check off proposal put forward by Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack.
He says their major state policy calls for asking legislators to increase infrastructure funding for counties and townships.
Wilkinson says he’s honored to be chosen to represent South Dakota cattlemen as their Association President and looks forward to leading their group which has been seeing their membership increase over the past five years.
