This week the U.S. and Hong Kong agreed on new terms and conditions to expand to the full range of U.S. beef and beef product exports. South Dakota Cattlemen’s President Cory Eich says that announcement will hopefully spur Mainland China to re open its market fully to U.S. beef trade.
Eich says he was hoping the Hong Kong expansion would have happened earlier as the World Organization for Animal Health last year granted the U.S. negligible risk status for BSE.
Eich says Hong Kong is the fourth largest market for U.S. beef and beef product exports. He says it also has the most growth potential of any market for U.S. beef.
