South Dakota Beekeeper Says USDA Pollinator Funds Will Help

Photo: WNAX

Friday USDA announced they’re making $ 8 million in conservation reserve program incentives available for producers in five states including South Dakota to establish new habitats for declining honey bee populations. Bruce, South Dakota honey producer and beekeeper Richard Adee says this along with $ 3 million announced earlier will help for both honey bee and pheasant habitat.
Adee hopes this USDA program will lead to more acres being idled for C-R-P rather than being cultivated for crops as has been the trend with more marginal land being put back into production.
Producers interested in this C-R-P incentive program are encouraged to check with their local NRCS office for further information.
