May is recognized as “Beef Month” and we have learned about the Beef Passport program in Nebraska, and the “Best Burger” contest in Iowa. But what about South Dakota? What promotional programs are being implemented by the South Dakota Beef Industry Council? According to Jodie Anderson who serves as the executive director of the South Dakota Beef Industry Council, cattle producers have launched a social media campaign to promote beef.
Anderson says the South Dakota Beef Council will distribute recipes and nutrition information at various grocery stores and supermarkets during the month of May and throughout the summer. In addition to promoting beef, the South Dakota beef official says the state beef council have been busy with educational presentations, as well as research projects, all with a focus on beef.

Anderson says the South Dakota Beef Industry Council also assists other states with low numbers of cattle to help promote beef.
