Associated Milk Producer Incorporated Leaders announced this week their dairy marketing cooperative recorded sales of $ 1.8 billion and earnings of $ 7.5 million in 2013. The CO-OP began its two day annual meeting Monday in Bloomington, Minnesota. South Dakota State Agriculture Secretary Lucas Lentsch spoke to the group. He told them that South Dakota’s dairy industry is growing and AMPI is an important part of that.
Lentsch says South Dakota has several dairy businesses that are AMPI members.
AMPI’s cheese production totaled 400 million pounds in 2013 and is the company’s top product category. AMPI also produces butter and powdered dairy products and is owned by 2600 upper Midwest dairy farmers.
