The South Dakota Department of Agriculture’s Ag Development Division has been seeing recent success with its county siting program. State officials work with Counties that invite them in to work on economic development issues. Division Director Paul Kostboth says they began with 4 counties and have now added 22 more.
Kostboth says monies for the program comes from a set aside out of the state’s value added sub fund.
He says the county siting program got a good start in the four pilot counties which has spilled over into the others.
The four pilot counties are Lincoln, Hutchinson, Codington and Brule. Kostboth says most of their development is occurring East River and they hope to move West River soon.
