The South Dakota Department of Ag reported listeria in a sampling of bottled raw milk from Jerseydale Farms near Brookings, South Dakota. The Department’s Dairy Program Administrator Darwin Kurtenbach says listeria can cause serious health effects so the product should be discarded or returned.
He says the Listeria case came up during their routine monthly sampling of raw milk outlets and the milk was labeled.
Kurtenbach says they are anticipating a bill dealing with raw milk regulations in the South Dakota legislative session.
