The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and State Beef Breeds Council has cancelled their planned trade mission to Russia that was set for October. Ty Eschenbaum with the Ag Department says they were hoping to expand their beef genetics with this trip but after evaluating world unrest they decided to cancel.
Eschenbaum says they’re hoping to reschedule their trade mission for either next year or in 2016 because Russia and Ukraine are potential lucrative markets for live cattle.
Eschenbaum says South Dakota’s producers and private industry should expect continued opportunities for shipping cattle, semen and embryos to Russia in the future.
