This week through October 12 is National 4H week. The South Dakota 4H program just began its new year on October 1. SDSU Extension 4H youth development field operations coordinator Amber Erickson says at the end of September there were over 9200 4H members in South Dakota. She says there’s a different theme each day this week to commemorate 4H.
She says each year, the South Dakota 4Hers do different service projects for communities in the state. Erickson says Teens for Jeans is this year’s service project.
Erickson says they have a pair of inspire events scheduled for Thursday and Friday to celebrate 4H week.
Erickson says anyone wanting to become a 4H member or leader should get in touch with their local county extension office to get started.
