South Dakota 4Hers through their 2018-2019 community service project collected over 8400 pairs of shoes and donated them to a non-profit group. SDSU Extension Regional 4H Youth Advisor Hilary Risner says they worked with Soles-4Souls, a non profit organization that ships those shoes to developing countries.

She says the shoes end up going to individuals in the developing countries and proceeds also go to the microenterprises that help create a stable economy for those countries. Risner says Lincoln County South Dakota 4Hers collected the most shoes.

Risner says their next project for the 2019-2020 season involves collection of jeans.

To donate, just contact your local county 4H office.
