As legislators adjusted the budget in the final hours of the session, they also made some changes to the number of state employees, or FTE’s authorized.
Eric Ollila, Executive Director of the South Dakota State Employees Organization, says they didn’t really quibble over those numbers….

Ollila says some agencies will be adding workers……

Ollila says the tight budget may have helped produce some good results at the end…..

State employees will not see a raise this year, but they will get some additional dollars to help with health insurance costs.
Just over thirteen thousand eight hundred FTE’s were authorized in the final budget bill.
