A field day is being held today at the Bryan Biegler farm near Lake Wilson, Minnesota highlighting the soil health partnership program. It’s a 5 year farmer led initiative to identify, test and measure conservation management practices to improve soil health. Nick Goeser is the SHP Director and serves as manager of soil health and sustainability for the National Corn Grower’s Association. He says soil testing is an important part of their initiative.
Goeser says through their program they also measure biological makeup of the soil to help improve yields.
Goeser says farmers can use cover crops to improve their soil health.
The field day runs until 2:30 this afternoon. For more information about the soil health partnership, you can go to their website.
