Summit League weekly honors for softball go to one player from South Dakota State and one from South Dakota.

The Summit League named South Dakota State sophomore Alyssa D’Agostino its player of the week on Monday after she helped lead the Jackrabbits to a 6-1 record, breaking the school’s single-season RBI record in the process.

South Dakota sophomore Rachel Cue has been named Summit League Pitcher of the Week for the period ended April 26. It is the second such honor for Cue, who hails from Garden Grove, Calif.

D’Agostino earns the league’s weekly honor for the first time in her career and becomes the first player from SDSU to receive the award since 2011.

The Jacks second baseman from Chino Hills, Calif., led the team to a 6-1 week, including a three-game sweep of league foe Fort Wayne, hitting three home runs during the week, helping her team break the school’s single-season home run record. She also broke the SDSU single-season RBI record after driving in 14 runs this week while also extending her hitting streak to nine games.

Cue pitched 11 innings and didn’t allow an earned run in three appearances against Western Illinois during a weekend series in Macomb. She pitched a complete game Saturday, allowing only five hits and striking out five in a 4-3 victory. She also got the final two outs of game one to earn a save and pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief in game three.

Cue allowed seven hits in her 11 innings of work for an opposing batting average of .167. She had seven strikeouts to run her season total to 77.
