Speculation about the future of University of South Dakota men’s basketball coach Craig Smith took another turn Wednesday night.

Earlier media reports that Smith was going to leave Vermillion to take the job at Drake were put on hold by other reports of the Coyote coach seeming to refute the idea with a tweet of his own.

Neither the coach or USD representatives made official announcements. The mystery is expected to be resolved Thursday with the possible announcement of a new deal for Smith at USD.

Smith led the Coyotes to their first Summit League regular season title as they went 22-11 this season before losing to Iowa in the NIT. He was the Summit League Coach of the Year.
