Small Schools Get Ready for Changes in South Dakota Graduation Requirements

The South Dakota Board of Educational Standards this week approved three new graduation tracks for high school students. The tracks will be; “Advanced,” “Advanced Career,” and “Advanced Honors.” The changes are aimed at helping young people make informed choices for their post-secondary plans.

Tom Culver, Superintendent in the Avon School District, says they will be ready when school starts in a few weeks……

Culver says they have resources available to help their students fit in a preferred track……

Culver says not every student wants or needs four years of university education……

Culver says the changes could help keep more kids in school through graduation.
