Small Issues Could Spark Big Debate in Upcoming NE legislative Session

The opening of the 2019 Nebraska legislative session is a few weeks away and lawmakers are gearing up to address key concerns. Senator Curt Friesen, who represents Aurora and Central City, says sometimes even the smallest issue can spark a big debate.

Health officials say one of the greatest threats to Nebraska is the growing opioid epidemic. State Senator Dan Quick, of Grand Island, says substance abuse is a serious concern and he thinks it can be better handled, especially opioids.

Quick and Friesen were part of a legislative kickoff event to discuss priorities last week in Grand Island. The legislative session opens January 9th.
