Six people are dead following a house fire in Platte.
All six who died were members of the same family, including four children and their parents. Platte-Geddes School Superintendent Joel Bailey says classes will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m. today due to the tragedy.
Bailey says counselors will be brought in to assist any students seeking counseling following the deadly fire. Bailey says the community of Platte has already shown strong support for students in the wake of the fire.
A community-wide vigil is planned tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church.
The Charles Mix County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.
