Six Nebraska Counties Declared Eligible For Drought Aid

Half a dozen Eastern and Northeastern Nebraska Counties have been declared Primary Natural Disaster Areas due to drought. Bobbie Kriz Wickham with the Nebraska Farm Service Agency Office says Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue issued the declaration making producers in those counties eligible for low interest loans.

She says producers have until May 11 of 2021 to apply for that loan assistance and FSA loan specialists can help them make decisions on which programs to apply for as some may offer better rates than the one just declared.

Wickham says besides the emergency farm loan program, there’s an emergency haying and grazing option available. She says to call for an appointment with your local FSA office to get started.

Wickham says to find out if you’re in a county eligible for assistance or any other information regarding FSA loans, you can go to their website at FSA.USDA.GOV.NE.
