The Sioux Empire Fair is underway in Sioux Falls this week and organizers are expecting big crowds. Director of Marketing, Brittany Will says last year’s attendance was around 280,000. She is predicting they’ll exceed 300,000 this year due to a strong line-up of entertainment, great weather, and their returned focus on agriculture and 4-H.
Will says they will salute agriculture on Wednesday with Farmer Appreciation Day.
She says the Farmer Appreciation Day has become a mainstay of the fair due to the support of the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce.
Thursday will be Hungry for Truth Day at the fair, sponsored by the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council, and their effort to reach out to consumers to share the message of food production.
The Lee Brice concert will be free that evening with gate admission. In fact, Will says most of the grand stand entertainment is free this year. Other popular attractions include the 4-H livestock shows and the Pipestone Discovery Barn.
