The Sioux City Explorers have clinched their second consecutive Central Division Championship in the American Association.

 The Explorers ended the 2016 regular season with a victory, getting the 9-3 win over the AirHogs in Amarillo, Texas.

They will be facing the Wichita Wingnuts in the American Association semi-finals.

Sioux City will be hosting the first two games of the playoffs (September 7-8th) at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park. Game three of the semi-finals will be held in Wichita (September 10th), alongside games four and five being played on September 11th and 12th (if necessary-best of five series).
