A Texas company has canceled plans to build a 31-million dollar rail car maintenance facility in Sioux City, Iowa, which would have brought 250 jobs to the region. City Manager Bob Padmore says Trinity Rail officials confirmed their decision earlier this month.

Padmore says the city is actively shopping the site to other potential developers and if conditions change, he hopes Trinity would again consider building in Sioux City.

Trinity Rail announced the expansion in October of 2014, but construction never got underway as demand for tankers soon dropped sharply as global prices for crude oil collapsed.
