As schools open for the fall term across South Dakota, new signs will be posted to greet students and parents.
The legislature passed a bill earlier this year that requires schools to post the words: “In God We Trust” in a prominent location in each of their buildings and in letters at least twelve inches high.

Yankton School Superintendent Wayne Kindle says the signs have all been placed….

Kindle says he has had only a few comments about the signs…

“In God We Trust” was adopted as the national motto by Congress in 1956.
