South Dakota livestock producers who had grazing losses during 2012 and the first half of 2013 and need disaster aid need to call their local FSA office by September 30. State FSA Executive Director Craig Schaunaman says that’s if they want to sign up for the Livestock Forage disaster program and be put on a register for future payment.
Schaunaman says if producers sign up after the September 30 deadline they can still get a payment but it will be reduced.
He says South Dakota is faring better than other states with this sign up.
Schaunaman says all producers need to do is call their local FSA office. This sign up does not include the LIP or ELAP programs but is just for the livestock forage program.
