Farmers can begin signing up for Market Facilitation Program payments at county Farm Service Agency offices today. The program announced last week calls for hog producers to receive a payment of $11 per pig based on the number of hogs owned on a day selected by the producer between April 1 and May 15, 2019. Nebraska Pork Producers Association Executive Director Al Juhnke says its important producers choose a day for those payments which will be beneficial to their farm.

He says the dates chosen by USDA for the MFP payments to be calculated for pork producers is positive.

Juhnke says while the MFP payments will help, most producers want to get their money from the markets and from positive trade agreements.

Juhnke says producers can sign up at their county Farm Service Agency office or enroll online.
