Travelers could see shorter wait times at certain Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport security checkpoints starting as early as this spring. New automated security lanes were approved by the Metropolitan Airports Commission this week.

Spokesman Gary Warren says the system allows up to five passengers at a time to place their bags on a conveyer belt and move through more quickly. The plan still needs final approval later this month (FEB 21)–but Warren says it’s very likely to pass.
