Severe Weather Awareness Week in Nebraska and Iowa

This is severe weather awareness week across Nebraska and Iowa. Despite the cool temperatures we have to start thinking about the possibility of severe weather outbreaks.

Brian Smith is the Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Valley. He says they have added some new features to their Doppler weather radar.

Smith says that will give users more information that is updated more rapidly.

Smith says people should use this week to refocus on the rapid changes in weather we could see in the weeks ahead.

(This happens in the 10am hour)[There will be test tornado watches and warnings issued this morning as part of severe weather awareness week.]
