Several Farm Bureau Priorities Still Alive In Minnesota Legislature

Minnesota state lawmakers have a busy agenda this week as conference committees are working on their budgets as they strive for a session adjournment the middle of the month. Farm Bureau’s Associate Public Policy Director Josie Lonetti says most of their priority measures are still alive and they’re working to get legislative approval on those including the ag budget, biofuels infrastructure, wolf depredation and broadband.

She says legislative leaders intend to have their budget targets out by this Friday which is positive since the two year budget expires on June 30.

Lonetti says her group’s members are pleased to see that there’s funding provided for broadband expansion in the omnibus ag legislation.

Lonetti says if lawmakers don’t get their business done by May 17, then there likely will be a special session.
