Gasoline prices have been dropping across the region with some places lower than $ 2 dollars a gallon. Wednesday Crude Oil prices went below $ 50 dollars. Nebraska Ethanol Board Administrator Todd Sneller says while that is pressuring ethanol plants, there are also some factors countering that including the demand for ethanol’s byproduct, dried distillers grains.
Sneller says while gas prices began dropping, demand for distillers grains picked up.
Sneller says the recent fuel price impacts are a bit of a double edged sword.
Sneller says ethanol plants in early 2014 experienced good economic conditions. He say because of that, some plant operators have been able to manage that in dealing with the recent low gasoline and oil prices.
