President Elect Joe Biden has put together his Ag transition team for the USDA. Former Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack’s senior advisor Robert Bonnie will lead the team. Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen says former Obama era official Jonathan Coppess is also on the USDA transition team.
He says because the incoming President is focusing on climate change, that will also be a large part of any policy done at the USDA.
Hansen says there will changes in leaders for both the House and Senate Agriculture Committees as well as a new Secretary of Agriculture with several people being considered for those positions.
Hansen says two of the names that have come up as possible Ag Secretary include Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota and Marcia Fudge of Ohio.
