A group of Seven Midwest Governors led by Iowa’s Kim Reynolds sent a letter to EPA administrator Michael Regan on Thursday urging him to follow their plan to offer E-15 all year long. Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Executive Director Monte Shaw says the waiver to sell ethanol year round should be granted to both E-15 and to E-10 where it’s already allowed.
He says the future of E-15 lies with it being able to be sold all year long.
Shaw says the only way the President can meet his low carbon rules is to allow biofuels to move ahead including annual use of E-15.
Shaw says in their letter the Governors requested guidance from EPA AdminIstrator Regan on what documentation is necessary for them to exercise their rights under the Clean Air Act to end the E-10 volatility waiver in their states, which would ensure blend stocks could be used to produce either E-10 or E-15 year round.
