15 U-S Senators, including Minnesota Democrat Amy Klobuchar and Iowa Republicans Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley recently have written a letter to EPA Administrator Michael Regan requesting the EPA to strengthen the Renewable Fuel Standard by maintaining the blending requirements for 2023, and to deny all pending small refinery exemptions eliminating proposed retroactive cuts to the renewable volume obligations and setting RFS volumes at the statutory levels.  Senator Chuck Grassley addressed the issue during his weekly news conference with agriculture media.

Grassley says a strong renewable fuels standard will help the rural economy, while at the same time help lower the price of gasoline for consumers.  Also signing the letter were South Dakota Senators John Thune and Mike Rounds, Tina Smith of Minnesota, Nebraska Senators Pete Ricketts and Deb Fischer had also co-signed the letter.
