Nineteen Senators led by Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota are urging the EPA to set high mandated levels under the Renewable Fuel Standard for 2017. Nebraska Ethanol Board Administrator Todd Sneller says the letter means the Senators are serious about their oversight of the RFS and the importance of setting the statutory blending volume levels.

He says the Senators are pointing out to the agency that the law is calling for a more robust target level.

Sneller says the biofuels industry has proven they can serve the marketplace and the EPA needs to recognize that and get the standard back on track.

The Senators pointed out that a strong RFS makes the United States more energy secure, increases competition and consumer choice in the transportation sector and ultimately strengthens the economy.
