Thursday farm state Senators called on EPA to set strong Renewable Volume Obligations required under the Renewable Fuel Standard. North Dakota Senators Heidi Heitkamp says the RFS needs to provide certainty to farmers and workers in the biofuels industry and specifically biodiesel where many plants were shuttered in 2014. This comes on the heels of the EPA’s newly announced timetable for finalizing RVOs of November 30.

The Senators pressed the EPA to end its years-long delay of setting RVOs.

This week, the EPA sent a draft of the RVO levels to the Office of Management and Budget – the final step before a draft rule is released. However, EPA will be almost three years late for the standards.
