Senators Press EPA to Restore Integrity to RFS

A bipartisan group of senators is urging the Environmental Protection Agency to prioritize and return integrity to the Renewable Fuel Standard.  Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says they sent a letter to the agency asking them to uphold the blending requirements for 2022, deny all pending Small Refinery Exemptions, eliminate proposed retroactive cuts to the renewable volume obligations (RVOs), and set 2021 RFS volumes at the statutory levels.

Grassley says in a letter to the EPA they made it clear that significant improvements are needed in the original proposal.

Just last week EPA also announced they would be delaying the RVO compliance requirements for refiners.  Grassley says this is all frustrating and shows the power of Big Oil.

He says unfortunately the only way to make EPA uphold the law seems to be to take them to court.
