Tuesday, Senators Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota introduced legislation to give pandemic aid to ethanol and biofuel producers. Grassley says the ethanol industry has been suffering from the effects of the pandemic and this measure is critical for the industry’s survival.
He says the drop in gasoline and ethanol consumption caused by COVID 19 has been drastic causing over 100 biofuel plants to partially or completely shut down.
Grassley says his legislation is based on equality of funding support for biofuels as well as the oil industry so it’s a matter of fairness.
Grassley says he had attempted earlier to get this measure included in the Senate version of the CARES Act and now he’s taking another run at it.
