Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says he’s joined several Senate and House colleagues in asking Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to strongly implement the actively engaged in farming provision in the 2014 farm bill. He says the letter calls on USDA to create a new rule to better define the actively engaged in farming provision to determine who can qualify for farm program payments.
Grassley says by implementing that provision properly there will be cost savings to the farm program.
Grassley says the 2014 farm bill sets limits at $ 125,000 per person or $ 250,000 per couple inclusive of all farm payments.
