The Senate has just a few days to pass and get over to the House a compromise measure on GMO or Biotech Labeling. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says it’s not impossible to get it done but hasn’t seen a definite compromise yet.
He says many of those who oppose federal biotech labeling tend to look at the issue emotionally and from an activists standpoint which makes getting to a resolution of the issue difficult.
Grassley says some Senators have allied themselves to labeling activists which has led to them taking a harder unyielding stance on the legislation.
The House adjourns for their recess on Friday so the Senate is up against the clock to finding a solution even though Senate Ag leaders Pat Roberts and Debbie Stabenow are working to find a solution.
