Despite the resignation of Japan’s Minister of Trade and Industry this week, Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says he’s looking to the country’s Prime Minister for resolution over the tariff trade dispute in the Trans Pacific Partnership talks.
Grassley says if Japan refuses to bring their tariffs to zero like the other TPP countries are required to do then maybe it’s time to proceed with the agreement without Japan.
TPP talks have been stymied by Japan’s protectionist stance over a number of products and their unwillingness to bring those tariffs down.
