The U.S. Senate is getting ready to vote on legislation authorizing the Keystone XL Pipeline. One of the amendments expected to be attached to the legislation came from Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey and California Senator Dianne Feinstein. It calls for removing corn ethanol from the renewable fuel standard. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley who backs the pipeline says it’s unlikely that amendment will be attached to the final legislation.
Grassley also says the Senators backing this amendment profess a different set of standards for different types of energy.
Grassley says based on recent comments from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, a final vote on the Keystone pipeline legislation could happen as early as sometime next week.
