Senator Push for Voter Photo ID Concedes Defeat

A state senator pushing to place voter photo ID into the Nebraska constitution has conceded defeat.

Senator John Murante of Gretna only took about an hour of debate before calling for a cloture vote and falling far short of the votes needed to end debate

Murante says he is talking with others about a possible initiative petition campaign to place the issue on the November ballot.

He says if it gets there, it will pass.

He dismisses claims voter fraud doesn’t exist in Nebraska, pointing out two voter fraud convictions within the last year. .
