The agreement that was reached between Congressional leaders calling for restoration of crop insurance cuts when they worked out the budget is not a done deal. That’s according to South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds. He says Senate and House leaders are working on the problem.
Rounds says when the farm bill was put together farmers asked for a strong risk management program. He says that’s what the administration targeted when they pushed for Congress to cut the budget.
He says if the $ 3 Billion cut isn’t restored there will be reduced crop insurance services available for farmers.
Recently a broad coalition of 49 groups urged Congressional leaders to make good on their promise and restore those cuts to crop insurance.
