The next major agricultural issue for the U.S. Senate will likely be infrastructure. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says that along with the DACA immigration issue and a continuing resolution to fund the government are the next Senate priorities. He says President Trump will talk about infrastructure later this month.
He says how to pay for infrastructure will likely come from two different sources, either through taxes or spending saved from other federal programs.
Grassley says the trillion dollar infrastructure plan the President is talking about isn’t all public funding and it’s a multi year type of plan.
Grassley says Democrats want to pay for any infrastructure legislation with all public money while some Republicans favor public private partnerships. He says the public private partnerships don’t work well in sparsely populated areas.
